‘Antidepressants are a kind of medication for a person with major depression. Most antidepressants out there are also used for people with social anxiety, anxiety disorders, and other types of disorders like that.
Just like any other type of medication they can have side effects like dizziness, dry mouth, weight loss, etc.
It is common for a person on antidepressants to not feel any changes for a few weeks of being on the medication.
Sometimes people will find that their medication has stopped working after a few months.’
I am someone who has been on antidepressants multiple times. And I do think that can work if the person finds the right one for them. but I do acknowledge that sometimes it doesn’t work for the person.
For me though I have been on many, many kinds of antidepressants over the years. Some of them not working for me, some of them that did.
Sometimes we are okay without or antidepressants, sometimes we are not.
I find that it matters for the person. Some people being very against being on any type of antidepressant.
I personally am not on them everyday. I go back on them when my depression is bad, and when I am back to stability I go off them.
Sometimes I can go a year without needing to go back on them so it’s never just a sudden mood change as soon as I go off of them.
But one of the biggest things that is needed to be known is that you need to find the right one of you.
There is no one size fits all antidepressant. Why do you think that there are so many kinds out there?
And they will not suddenly start working right away, it can take time for them to start to kick in.
Even when they do kick it will not feel like you did a 180. You will still know that you are depressed, but it will be easier to handle.
and it could take a long while to find the right kind and balance of medication for you.
Not to mention that the side effects can feel daunting. And some of the medication’s side effects might not be something that you can handle.
You should know that not all medication have the same level of side effects. And you might not feel them as bad or at all as some people. So you should not let that stop you if you want to try antidepressants.
So one thing that I acknowledge is that is that this might not be for everybody. They might not feel it works for them.
And if it is not for you then that is find. But you should still find some thing that works for you.
It could be therapy, exercise, meditation. But you should find something.
